The event begins with the presentation of awards in different categories to recognize the work of some of the many former students who undoubtedly deserve such distinction and who are an example and encouragement for current and future students.

The 5th ALUMNI-UVIGO Meeting and Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday 22 October at 6 pm in the Redeiras Building (Berbés, Vigo city).
The University of Vigo celebrated the IV Alumni-UVigo Awards 2025, an event that is becoming established in the university summer and with which the Vigo academic institution seeks to recognize the personal and professional impact of its graduates who stand out for their successful careers, both personal and professional.
In the Redeiras building, in a gala in which the Alumni-UVigo Recognitions were also presented, honorary awards to people who, through their work, contribute to the prestige and values of the University of Vigo and which this year went to the president of RC Celta, Marián Mouriño, who will receive the Amigo-Alumni award; the director of the Stellantis plant in Vigo, José Luis Alonso Mosquera, Distinguished Alumni-UVigo; and Alberto Estévez Suárez, linked to Amnesty International for more than 25 years, Honorary Alumni in recognition of his extensive career in human rights and arms control.
After the awards ceremony, a grand final party took place in the Berbés square, a gathering designed so that former students could meet their former teachers, classmates, and friends, a fun gathering also designed to help enrich the network of personal contacts of each of the attendees.

The University of Vigo celebrated the third edition of the Alumni Awards in the Redeiras building, recognizing the talent and career of former students who today stand out for their social and professional impact. The five award winners were: Raquel Gómez (Entrepreneurship), founder of the Somos Terra cooperative; Valentina Marta Rodríguez (Humanities), medical translator and researcher; Javier Cebreiros (Social Impact), promoter of the Ensaia project; Carlos Spuch (Research), neuroscientist with more than 90 publications; and Pablo Rodríguez (Professional Career), creator of the ReiZentolo brand. Honorary distinctions were also awarded to Carlos Botana, Susana Rodríguez Gacio, Teresa Portela and David Regades.
The event, hosted by Professor Susana Rodríguez Barcia, was attended by the Rector Manuel Reigosa and the Vice-Rector Natalia Caparrini, who highlighted the Alumni mentoring program as a bridge between students and the professional world. After the awards ceremony, an informal meeting was held in the Plaza do Berbés, attended by more than 150 people, including alumni, teachers and professionals, consolidating the Alumni community as a living network that continues to grow and add value to the University of Vigo and Galician society.

The five studied at the University of Vigo and the five are from this Friday Alumni-UVigo Awards, awards that recognize personal and professional work that stands out for its value and for being an example of good work. Their names were announced this Friday at a gala held in the Redeiras building, chaired by the rector, Manuel Reigosa, and which became a great party with which the Vigo academic institution wanted to encourage the relationship with its former students and strengthen the feeling of belonging to the institution, actively contributing to the development and social projection of its graduates. During the event, the Alumni-UVigo Honorífico awards were also presented to Professor África González, and the Alumni-UVigo Distinguido awards were presented to the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, recognitions of the merit of two people especially involved with this institution and whose work contributes to the interests and values of the University of Vigo.
In a gala hosted by the professor of the Faculty of Philology and Translation Susana Rodríguez Barcia, the first to take the stage was the Vice-Rector for Students and Employability, Natalia Caparrini, who briefly explained the reason for these awards and the Alumni-UVigo community, currently made up of more than 1600 people. She also explained the composition of the jury that was in charge of choosing the 15 finalists -three for each category-, from among the more than one hundred candidacies received, and that it was then the Alumni-UVigo community itself, with its votes, that chose the winner of each of the categories. A year and a half after the procedures for its creation began, more than 1000 people are part of the Alumni-UVigo Community, which this afternoon celebrated for the first time in its history, the awarding of awards to its most outstanding members and a subsequent meeting. Graduates of all official degrees and the University Program for Seniors, exchange students, PDI and PAS, make up this community, made up of 51% women and 84% members who reside in Spain.
The Erasmo Square was the scene from 7:00 p.m. on July 13 for the presentation of the Alumni Awards in the categories of Entrepreneurship, Professional Career, Humanities, Social Impact and Research, which were attended by 80 graduates and which finally rewarded the personal and professional work of five of them: Bibiana Rodiño Janeiro, María Luz Abeijón Vidal, Martín Rodríguez Vázquez, Andrea Ruzo García and Belén Riveiro Rodríguez. For their part, the five former rectors of UVigo, Luis Espada Recarey, José Antonio Rodríguez Vázquez, Domingo Docampo Amoedo, Alberto Gago Rodríguez and Salustiano Mato de la Iglesia were recognized as Honorary UVigo Alumni for their merits in the development of the academic institution, while José María Franco, president of the UVigo Alumni Association, became the first UVigo Alumni distinguished in recognition of his special involvement with the institution.
