What is the community?
alumni-UVigo?

Our goal is to maintain a link between people

The alumni-UVigo community is a service created in February 2021 by the University of Vigo with the aim of generating a new communication space that allows not only to keep active the link between the institution and the people who at some point had an academic or contractual relationship with it, but also within the collective itself. To achieve this objective, we will facilitate the realization of collaborations that serve common interests, promoting the presence of this community at the university and fostering the value and pride of belonging.

We look forward to seeing you again. We want to hear your suggestions and concerns and inform you about our activities. We also offer you services and proposals to feel part of this community.

Our history

The alumni-UVigo community is a new project but that doesn't mean we're starting to walk alone!

To locate the antecedents of this community, we must go back to the year 1997It was then that the Association of Friends and Alumni of the University of Vigo was created, with the aim of promoting and fostering ties between society, the business community and our university.

Today this association continues its activity with José María Franco García at the head and more than a hundred associated people who actively participate in its activities.

In the year 2016Almost twenty years later, a pioneering initiative began in Spain, the Observatory of Graduates of the University of Vigo, led by the first rector, Luis Espada Recarey. It was created in order to maintain a channel to continue with the development of studies to monitor the employment of former students.

Thus, this observatory allows us to have up-to-date, reliable and useful information for decision-making within the University of Vigo. Without a doubt, these initiatives, like the alumni-UVigo community that is now beginning its journey, were born and grew thanks to the unconditional support of the Social Council of the University of Vigo.

Since its establishment in 1995, the Social Council has been supporting and encouraging these and other initiatives in order to contribute effectively to the social, professional, economic, technological and cultural development of Galicia.
